On Wednesday night when the whole city was busy in celebrating the auspicious festival of Diwali at city’s famous Fatah Sagar Lake area, a police constable saved a life of a girl while risking his own.
The driver of police jeep of Hathipol police station, constable Ramakant came in action after he heard the noise of a girl screaming from the water during the night patrolling. He immediately left his jeep and rushed towards the water where he spotted a girl drowning in the lake. He immediately jumped into the waters and brought her back to life.
According to the sources, on Wednesday night the victim girl Meena (22) of Sarada village was sitting on the Paal (cemented boundary) of the Fatah Sagar lake with her relatives. While enjoying herself at the lakeside she lost her balance and fell into the water. A huge crowd gathered after hearing her screams but no one dared to pull her out.
At the same time, police constable Ramakanth stopped his jeep after looking at the crowd and comprehended the situation. Wasting no time, he took the risk of falling into the water with his uniform on and saved the life of the girl.
The crowd applauded his courageous act and gave him the title of ‘Police ka Real Hero.’ Ramakant while talking to UT said that he didn’t even think twice before diving into the water as it was his duty to save the girl.
