Theft at Raymond’s Showroom, goods worth Lacs of Rupees stolen

While, the city is plunged in the joy of ongoing Navratri Festival, the continuous incidents of thefts has added bitterness to the celebration. After consecutive burglaries reported in two of the residences, thieves have now targeted a shop at Town Hall road.

Raymond’s showroom at Town Hall road was ransacked by suspected thieves last night, who stole clothes worth more than Rs. 1.50 Lacs and Rs.63,000 in cash.

Dhaval Thakkar, Manager of the store informed the Surajpol Police that they closed the showroom at around 10.15 pm last night.

Today, when he returned to the showroom he was shocked to see the shop merchandise in tatters; all clothes, perfumes, accessories, etc. were lying on the floor; the drawer on the reception counter was lying open and Rs. 63007 were missing from it.

He also informed police that, some bundles of suit lengths and fabrics are also missing from the ground floor and on the upper floor, ready made clothes worth thousands of rupees were missing; the total stock stolen was valued at more than Rs. 1.5 lacs.

C. I. Sobhagya Singh of Surajpol Police Station arrived on the scene and started investigation.  CCTV cameras are not installed as the interior work of the showroom was still not completed.

According to the sources, it is not the first time that a theft has occurred in their building, it also happened when the building was under the possession of Koutons Ready Made Store.
