May 26, 2026: Actor Ranveer Singh has finally issued an official statement after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) announced a non-cooperation directive against him over the ongoing controversy surrounding Don 3.

The decision was formally declared during a press conference on Monday after reports emerged that Singh had exited the highly anticipated film, directed by Farhan Akhtar, shortly before production was scheduled to begin.

FWICE has effectively barred the actor from working with members associated with the federation until the dispute is resolved. The organisation has also supported the producers’ demand seeking reimbursement of alleged pre-production losses worth nearly Rs 45 crore.

Reacting to the controversy, Ranveer Singh’s spokesperson stated that the actor deliberately chose to remain silent throughout the matter out of respect for everyone involved.

Ranveer Singh’s Official Statement

“Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect,” the statement said.

The statement further added that the actor does not wish to engage in public speculation and continues to respect the people associated with the franchise.

“While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture. His focus remains firmly on his work and the commitments ahead. He continues to hold deep respect and goodwill for all those involved and sincerely wishes the franchise continued success. Choosing restraint and grace in moments like these has always been a conscious decision on his part, and he will continue to maintain the same stance,” the statement further read.

FWICE Accuses Ranveer of Walking Out at the Last Moment

The controversy reportedly escalated after claims surfaced that Ranveer Singh stepped away from Don 3 just days before filming was expected to commence. The matter eventually reached the Producers Guild of India, where senior industry figures allegedly attempted to mediate discussions between the actor and Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.

According to FWICE, Excel Entertainment submitted a complaint earlier this year claiming that Ranveer Singh had signed a three-film agreement with the production house. The producers also sought compensation for substantial pre-production expenses incurred before the actor’s reported exit.

In its official statement, FWICE criticised last-minute withdrawals by actors, saying such actions can severely affect the industry’s functioning. “FWICE firmly believes that the entire film industry functions as one extended family, where every individual associated with different crafts and departments contributes collectively towards the successful creation of a project,” the organisation said.

The federation further stated that actors, technicians, workers, directors, and producers are connected through mutual trust and professional responsibility, adding that sudden exits from projects at crucial stages threaten the industry’s working ecosystem.

FWICE also alleged that when it attempted to initiate discussions, Ranveer Singh declined to engage directly with the federation, reportedly stating that the matter required a more “appropriate” forum. However, the body clarified that it remains open to future dialogue in hopes of reaching an amicable resolution. Earlier, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit had termed the issue “very serious,” warning against actors leaving projects close to shooting schedules. “You can't withdraw from a project 10 days before the shoot starts. We will do whatever is justified in the interest of the industry,” Pandit had reportedly said.

Don 3 Delays Continue as Legal Questions Surface

Directed by Farhan Akhtar, Don 3 has remained under intense scrutiny ever since its announcement in 2023. The film has already faced multiple delays and casting-related speculation. Actress Kiara Advani was earlier linked with the project before reports suggested the collaboration did not materialise.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh was last seen in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which reportedly emerged as a major box office success and marked a significant milestone in his career. The actor is now said to be focusing on his upcoming post-apocalyptic zombie thriller Pralay, which will also mark his debut as a producer.

Legal experts believe Ranveer Singh could potentially challenge FWICE’s directive in court if he feels it unfairly restricts his right to work or amounts to professional blacklisting. However, industry insiders suggest the practical implications of the dispute may prove more significant than the legal debate itself.

Pralay, backed by filmmaker Hansal Mehta and directed by Jai Mehta, is reportedly expected to begin production in August 2026. If the standoff continues, coordinating crews and production logistics could become increasingly difficult.

Historically, FWICE directives have often functioned as pressure mechanisms designed to restart negotiations rather than permanent bans. Whether the matter eventually ends through mediation or legal proceedings, the Ranveer Singh-FWICE dispute once again highlights the delicate balance between contractual obligations, legal rights, and industry influence in Bollywood.
