Bhakti Sharma, Udaipur’s very own internationally renowned swimmer, is on the path to break another record by swimming across the Antarctic Ocean. With this feat, Bhakti would’ve accomplished her target of swimming across all five oceans of the world.

Having quit her job in Mumbai in order to prepare for the endeavour, the swimmer can be spotted practicing in the early hours in Fateh Sagar Lake.

She will be attempting to swim 2.5 km in some of the world’s coldest waters, a distance greater than that covered by Lynne Cox of USA (1.9 km), Louise Borg of South Africa (1 km) and India’s own Ram Barkai.

As the ocean temperature is warmest between November and March, Bhakti is planning her swim in January 2015, when the average temperature is between 0 and 1°C.
