German influencer LizLaz has made a shocking revelation after her viral Instagram controversy involving Virat Kohli. The model claimed that some people allegedly offered her money to make false allegations against the former India captain amid the social media storm.

May 12, 2026: German model LizLaz grabbed massive attention on social media after Indian cricketer Virat Kohli reportedly liked and later unliked one of her Instagram pictures. The incident quickly went viral as fans compared it with Kohli’s previous social media controversy involving actress Avneet Kaur. As memes and discussions flooded the internet, LizLaz unexpectedly found herself in the spotlight.

Days after the controversy, the German influencer admitted that she never expected such attention and said she felt “very happy and overwhelmed” by the response. However, she also made a shocking revelation, claiming that some people allegedly offered her money to speak negatively about Kohli.

LizLaz Claims She Was Offered Money To Speak Against Kohli

Speaking to FilmyMantra, LizLaz said, “I would get so many calls from different magazines. Some people even pushed me to say things I didn’t want to say. Some journalists even offered me money to throw shade at him (Virat Kohli) and make allegations he never made. But why would I do that? I said it myself that he’s my favourite cricketer. So why would I throw shade at him for money? I'm not that kind of person.”

She also reacted to the AI-generated pictures featuring her and Kohli that circulated widely on social media. Calling them funny, she added that the situation might not have been pleasant for Kohli.

“For me, it’s funny. For him, it is not nice. I don't think it was his intention, and he did not do anything inappropriate,” she said.

The controversy reminded fans of the 2025 incident when Kohli had accidentally liked pictures of Avneet Kaur posted by one of her fan pages. The photos quickly became viral online, forcing the former India captain to issue a clarification on his Instagram Story.

“I'd like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding,” Kohli had written.

LizLaz Denies Viral Claim About Kohli’s Fame

Recently, another viral claim spread across social media alleging that LizLaz had said, “Virat Kohli became famous because of me.” The statement triggered strong reactions from Kohli’s fans, with many criticising the influencer online.

However, LizLaz later clarified her stance through social media and strongly denied ever making such a statement. Calling the rumours “ridiculous,” she explained that her words had been taken out of context.

“Apparently, I said that Virat Kohli became famous because of me, which I obviously didn’t do. This is ridiculous. He’s one of the most famous people in the world, and I’m clearly not, so why would I say this?” she said.

The influencer further explained that cricket is not very popular in Germany, which is why Kohli is usually not covered by the country’s mainstream media. According to her, the controversy simply led German media outlets to report on Kohli and explain his global fame to local audiences unfamiliar with cricket.

“The only thing that I did say is that he was in the German media because of the controversy. In Germany, we don’t really have cricket, so they explained who he was. That’s all I said,” she clarified.

LizLaz once again repeated that she never claimed Kohli became famous because of her and called the entire rumour completely false. The controversy originally began last month when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru superstar appeared to have liked and then unliked her Instagram pictures, creating a major buzz across social media platforms.
