The Tourism Department of the city haven’t received budget to organize any program on World Tourism Day, i.e. on 27^th September. However, District Collector, in a high level meeting yesterday, gave the orders to prepare for the occasion.

Nor the department or the local citizens are looking satisfied with the current plan and expecting a grand celebration in the form of a carnival which can directly or indirectly pull tourists to the city of lakes.

“Being a center for tourism, there should a grand celebration on World Tourism Day”, says, Mukesh Tikku who owns a travel business.

Sunita Saroch, Deputy Director, Department of Tourism said that they are yet to receive guidelines from the Headquarters in Jaipur but they also look forward to see participation from the locals.

In a meeting of Tourism Development Committee, under direction of District Collector, several important issues were discussed and proposed like night food court, turning Saraswati Library at Gulab Bagh to a museum and additional parking space at Government Press.

Although, it is hard to say how long it will take for administration to implement these ideas but currently nothing enviable is seen for the World Tourism Day except welcoming tourists on tourist spots.
