PM Modi to Inaugurate Udaipur - Chandigarh Train on September 25, 2025
The Train No. 20989 will run from Udaipur to Chandigarh and Train No. 20990 will run from Chandigarh to UdaipurÂ
Udaipur, Sept 19, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the direct train between Udaipur and Chandigarh on his visit to Banswaraon September 25. The train will be flagged off in virtual mode and a special program will be held at the Udaipur Railway Station to mark the occasion.
The direct special superfast between Udaipur and Chandigarh was already announced in July 2025, after approval from Ashwini Vaishnav, the Union Minister for Railways. The dates for the commencement of this connection was not announced then, but it was expected to ply from September 2025. Now, with operations commencing from September 27, 2025, the long-awaited direct rail link between South Rajasthan and North India is set to begin.

From Udaipur (20989): Departs Wed & Sat at 4:05 PM, arrives Chandigarh next day at 9:50 AM.

From Chandigarh (20990): Departs Thu & Sun at 11:20 AM, arrives Udaipur next day at 5:30 AM.
🔹 Frequency: Bi-weekly (Wednesday & Saturday from Udaipur, Thursday & Sunday from Chandigarh).

The journey between Udaipur and Chandigarh will cover Rana Pratap Nagar Station (Udaipur), Mavli Junction, Kapasan, Chittaurgarh (Chanderiya), Bhilwara, Bijainagar, Ajmer Jn, Kishengarh, Phulera, Jaipur, Gandhinagar (Jaipur), Dausa, Bandikui, Rajgarh, Alwar, Rewari, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Jind, Narwana, Kaithal, Kurukshetra and Ambala Cantt.
This new connectivity will greatly benefit students, tourists, and business travelers, linking Rajasthan’s City of Lakes to the capital of Punjab & Haryana.
