Raksha Bandhan Rush: Udaipur Roadways Buses Hit 113% Capacity

Udaipur, Aug 9, 2025 – Free travel for women has been announced for both Saturday and Sunday (August 9 and 10) across the State on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. This year, Rajasthan Roadways is offering two days of free travel for women instead of one. From Saturday to Sunday midnight, women can travel free of cost on Express, Sleeper, Blue Line, and Ordinary category buses of the corporation. This exemption is applicable only for travel within the State.
On Friday, the eve of the festival, Rajasthan Roadways buses were reported operating at full capacity. Long queues were seen at the ticket counters at the Udiapol bus station with ladies and gents standing in separate lines. Despite the fact that there were 84 buses running from the Udaipur depot, along with two additional buses from other depots, the rush was unprecedented. Buses were being dispatched every 20 minutes. On regular days, Roadways buses operate at about 90% capacity, but this surged to 113%.
The Banswara route, which has 40 buses running on this route daily from 5:30 am to 5:00 pm, witnessed the heaviest passenger load. Passenger traffic also increased on routes to Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Chittorgarh, Sirohi and Pali. Roadways will reassign buses from other routes on to routes which has excess demand.
