At first, it was not a friendly welcome for Pavel Nedbalek and his wife Helena Anderkova, when city police held them for a round of questioning after noticing their strange looking caravan last night.

The Czech couple with their two dogs arrived in Udaipur last night on their caravan, a modified Mercedes. The couple is on 30,000km tour of Asia and already covered 12500km on- road journey.

Started two and a half month ago from Czech Republic, Pavel and Helena came to India driving through Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan.

“The journey is to explore the world cultures, people and languages”, says Pavel, who visited Udaipur few years back and have special affection for the city.

Geared with the 27 years old Mercedes caravan that has kitchen, dining and living area, the couple is accompanied with their two dogs, Cyril and Tina throughout the journey.

While cooking their lunch, just opposite to the office of collector where the caravan was parked, Helena Anderkova said, “We are called by security personnel today to talk about our journey and after showing our travel documents they cleared us for further tour.” The couple came to Udaipur via Jodhpur and will move towards Mumbai, Goa and then to Nepal.

Pavel works in a plastic molding company owned by his family, while his wife is a receptionist at a Spa in Czech Republic. Both of them are on six months vacations and planned to do something unique, as both of them like to travel, they took up the task.

The Mercedes caravan through which they are driving, has been bought from Germany for 10 thousand Euros, needs 20 liters of Diesel to run 100 kms; and they have spend another 10000 Euros for the interiors, as the caravan is a small setup of a house, equipped with all basic facilities, a small kitchen, dining space and a small bedroom etc.

They love their dogs, one of it was a female mixed breed German Shepherd Tina and a mixed breed Bull dog Cyril, the couple is even carrying dog food with them, now it will take more than 2 months for them to complete their journey.
