After the horrific attack of leopard that killed a 3 year old girl last night, Udaipur Forest Department is preparing to trap the beast and asked villagers to be vigilant.

A 3-year-old girl became prey to a leopard that attacked her while she was sleeping outside her house. The girl’s body was found from jungle after hours of search operation. Since then the villagers of Nichla Goira Barapal are terrified.

Around 30-40 families reside in this village which is surrounded by deep forest. Moreover, the village lack basic amenities for eg, there are no road lights and electricity supply to houses is also less.

All top forest officials reached the village and inspected the place of incident. Officers also went to mortuary to see the deceased girl.

Vinod Kumar Rai, Range Forest Officer said, “A trap will be installed in the village to catch the leopard. It is assumed that, the beast came to the house by smelling livestock but the goat was tied and kept inside the house and a cow was also tied.”

However, all the family members were sleeping outside in an open area including the victim 3 year old girl who became the soft target for the animal.

Forest officials said that more than 3 cages will be put up with Pug Impression Pad (PIP) to know how many leopards are there.

While explaining the cause of incident, Vinod Kumar Rai said, “Wild animals have not changed their place. It’s we humans who are migrating towards jungle and disturbing the habitat of wild animals.”
