It was one of the most unusual experiences for the snake catcher Chaman Singh to find a Ribbon Snake from Udaipur’s locality which is usually found in desert areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Even Chaman Singh who claimed to rescue thousands of snakes could not recognize the species of until it was confirmed as Ribbon Snake by environmentalist Satish Sharma.

Scientific name Psammophis leithii, the snake is also known as Pakistani Sand Racer, Leith’s Sand Snake etc.

The snake is non venomous and found in desert areas of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the areas of Kutch and Thar Desert.
