June 21, 2025 - Bollywood star Aamir Khan has been waiting for a hit film for the last seven years. After Thugs of Hindostan and Laal Singh Chaddha, he has now returned to the big screen - after three years - with Sitaare Zameen Par. The sports-comedy drama received good reviews, and its box office earnings were also strong. But now, there is a demand on social media to boycott the film.

On Twitter, people are calling for a boycott of this film. But what is the reason when the film is doing well at the box office?

Boycott Demand Rises

One user said, "A complete waste of money. Listen to the review of Sitaare Zameen Par. Bollywood should be boycotted. #BoycottSitaareZameenPar."

Another wrote, "Aamir Khan said in his film PK that instead of offering milk to Lord Shiva, we should help poor people. Now his film is releasing, so instead of wasting money on watching it, help the poor."

One more posted, "Why Aamir Khan? My friend watched the movie yesterday and came back angry. She abused Aamir Khan. Sometimes his films talk about parents, sometimes his personal life, sometimes about special children. One star rating from me."

Caught in Old Controversies

Aamir has been facing criticism for a long time. There was a big controversy around his film PK. People were also upset when he said his (ex-)wife Kiran Rao felt unsafe in India and thought about leaving the country. This made many angry.

In 2020, Aamir was criticised for meeting with the First Lady of Turkey during a visit to the country. Owing to these reasons, his last film Laal Singh Chaddha failed at the box office. The same trend seems to be targeting Sitaare Zameen Par now.
