June 18, 2025 - Aamir Khan’s most-awaited film Sitaare Zameen Par has finally received the green signal from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Earlier, there were reports of a dispute with the CBFC over some cuts, but now the issue has been resolved.

There was already a lot of controversy around the release of the film, so getting support from the CBFC was very important. Now that the matter is settled, the film is ready to move forward.

Recently, there were reports that the CBFC had asked for two scenes cut. However, Aamir and director RS Prasanna felt that these scenes and dialogues were important for the story and should not be removed. Because of this, the film’s Censor certificate was delayed.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Aamir met the CBFC committee on June 16 and explained his point of view. After the discussion, both sides came to an agreement, and the film was passed without any cuts. Now, the film will release on its scheduled date of June 20, 2025.

The Film’s Story

Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports drama and considered a spiritual sequel to Aamir’s 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The movie is inspired by the 2018 Spanish film Champions. In this film, Aamir plays the role of an alcoholic basketball coach who trains 10 special children for the Paralympics.

The film focuses on themes like motivation, inclusion and giving hope to others. It also stars Genelia D’Souza and Darsheel Safary in important roles. Darsheel will be seen in a completely new character.

The film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Aparna Purohit, with Ravi Bhagchandka as co-producer. The music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics are written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The screenplay is by Divya Nidhi Sharma.

New Faces in the Cast

The movie introduces 10 new actors: Aarush Dutta, Gopi Krishna Verma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Aayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar.

Runtime and Rating

The film is 2 hours and 35 minutes long. It has received a 12A rating from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). This means viewers aged 12 and above can watch it, while younger children can watch it with an adult.

Theatre Release Only

Aamir has made it clear that Sitaare Zameen Par will release only in theatres - not on OTT platforms or YouTube. In an interview, he said, “I believe in theatres. If you make a good film, people will come to watch it on the big screen.”

He also shared his concern about how early OTT releases are hurting theatres. Aamir is confident that this film will create its magic only in cinemas.
