'No More Mr. Nice Guy': Trump to Iran as Stalemate Continues
US President issues a sharp warning to Iran amid stalled nuclear talks; Strait of Hormuz closure and United Arab Emirates exit from OPEC shake global oil markets
April 29, 2026 - United States President Donald Trump has asked Iran to “better get smart soon” over stalled peace talks and issued a “no more Mr Nice Guy” warning to the Islamic Republic. He took to Truth Social to express his frustration at no progress in the negotiations between the US and Iran as the latter is not willing to include nuclear programme condition in the talks.
Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself holding a gun along with the message: “Iran can’t get their act together. They don’t know how to sign a nonnuclear deal. They better get smart soon!”
With negotiations stuck, the Strait of Hormuz continues to remain closed to commercial vessels even as the US refuses to lift its blockade of Iranian ports. The Hormuz blockade is pushing gas prices higher as also the news of UAE officially exiting OPEC from May 1, 2026. This decision, which comes at such a critical juncture and in the midst of the West Asia conflict, is expected to deal a major blow to the world’s energy markets.
UAE has been a member for nearly 60 years and is one of OPEC’s (Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) largest oil producers. The country’s exit from the organisation will likely provide a significant setback to the globally powerful oil producers’ group and the already rattled global economy.
