US President Donald Trump says Iran is 'running out of time' amid rising war tensions; Iran warns of retaliation, Israel awaits US signal
April 24, 2026 - Announcing that he is not under any pressure to end the war with Iran, US President Donald Trump cautioned that the clock is ticking for Iran. Writing on Truth Social, Trump said, “I have all the time in the world, but Iran doesn’t…” as the third US aircraft carried arrived in the region.
Earlier on Thursday, (April 23), the US President said he has directed the US military to “shoot and kill” small Iranian boats deploying mines in the Strait of Hormuz. This prompted Iran Defence Minister to speaks to his Pakistani counterpart following which Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar was quoted as emphasising on the importance of dialogue and engagement to address outstanding issues.
Iran warned that any attack on its oil wells, would result in retaliatory strikes on Saudi Arabia’s energy facilities. The country’s media also reported explosions over the capital city of Tehran, the first following the implementation of the ceasefire in the region. Israeli sources said they were not behind the blasts.
Meanwhile, Israel, as per reports, has said that it is on standby and “awaiting the green light from the United States to complete the elimination of the Khamenei dynasty”.
The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been extended by three weeks. Trump has described the discussions between the two countries and mediated by the US as productive and historic.
