Udaipur, March 8,2025 - The Rajasthan government is planning to introduce night tourism in Udaipur to make the city lively even after 10:00 PM. Finance Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari announced this initiative in the state budget, with a proposed expenditure of Rs 100 crore. The state government aims to promote night tourism with cultural programs, food and beverage zones, and better lighting. Special arrangements will also be made for the safety of tourists, especially women.
Tourism entrepreneurs believe that Udaipur needs night tourism. There has been a long-standing demand for night markets and food zones for tourists. If these are implemented, tourism will increase, creating more jobs and giving visitors a chance to experience Rajasthan's art and culture.
Proposal Sent in June 2023 - Click Here
It is expected that the government may now work on a proposal sent by the Tourism Department in June 2023. The proposal suggested setting up:
Handicraft Market from UDA Pulia to Fatehpura Police Chowki
Food Market from Sukhadia Circle to St. Mary’s School (near Saheliyon Ki Bari)
Another Food Market around the old railway line near Udiapol
On February 24, 2025, City MLA Tarachand Jain highlighted that lack of dining options at night is a big issue for Udaipur’s tourism. Earlier, there was an attempt to set up a café at the Roadways campus, but it was unsuccessful.
Currently, most markets in Udaipur close by 10:00 PM, leaving tourists with limited food options. Those who arrive late after long journeys face difficulties in finding food. If their hotel doesn’t provide meals, they struggle to get anything in the market.
